I just spent the past hour looking at the president who won the elections but never got sworn into office....yeah....Al Gore. You gotta love what this guy is doing and if fellow bloggers, if you haven't seen "An Inconvenient Truth" as yet, do so. It's an eye-opener and it's one of those movies you watch and then you come sit in front of the computer and you google "carbon footprint" and you calculate yours.
Al Gore was just interviewed on "Larry King Live." He was speaking of the kickoff event for a three year campaign to raise global warming awareness. I saw names like Micheal Nyman, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Sting and the Police, Madonna, Shakira, Jon Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Akon, etc. In short, it got my interest....not because I am a little bit of an environmental freak but these people are really good at their jobs. And as for Akon and his little boo boo in Trinidad, he did apologize and we can only hope he will not try to dry-hump half-naked, 14 year old girls at concerts anymore. Moving on.......
I've cultured this little notion that Al Gore would announce his candidacy for the 2008 presidency late in the run but I am not so sure anymore.......However, I can still hope. As for his concert, I really, really hope that it does what Gore hopes it will do....for the Earth's sake.
Oh, and some time ago, on one of my evening walks, Ami and I came up with a suggestion that people who buy SUV's, 8-cylinder vehicles, Hummers, etc., should be made to pay a mandatory pollution tax for having a gargantuan carbon footprint......especially in a state like Florida where you cannot possibly see any sort of rugged terrain or war-zones (WTF???? a hummer???). I guess it's a pet peeve of mine. Let me not get started on Trinidad and the Smelters!
So on 07/07/07, I will be watching the concert as it airs on Eastern prime time. According to the planners, it will air on all seven continents according to the prime time in various regions. Sounds like history in the making and we all get to watch it and do something.
