We just came back from seeing another movie. I guess it's what i do best when i have nothing else to do. this one was "the madea family reunion." it's a clean movie. there were only two other people in the movie theater besides us four. but the movie had some good laughs. set in atlanta, georgia so every five seconds, vinod or ami would turn to each other and say that they remembered a certain place...then they started singing "music farm," a soca-calypso from the mid-late 90's trini carnival. the good thing is that i got two free popcorns...my movie points are adding up!
It's spring break for nan and i don't get to spend much time with her like we used to...except when we are up late at night trying to finish some lab reports. she and ami went out today. they used to do that a lot before i came in the picture and it's always good to keep a friendship.
wanted to go to the beach today. it was such beautiful weather! ended up reading a little bit then sleeping though because i had chinese food (actually it was japanese) when ami got me from work. somehow, i always feel sleepy after eating that food. i ordered something new...the vegetable roll. i guess the waiter saw the look on nandini's and ami's face, mine included. you can just look at some things and tell that they aren't going to go down right. this was one. really, it was okay but i ordered two, thinking that nan and ami will eat....couldn't even finish one because ami refused to eat it and he said that his dog wouldn't eat it either. nan tasted it and almost spit it out. it wasn't that bad but why does the most disgusting things on the menu cost the most????? ended up wasting it...felt bad but i figured that if i had eaten more of it i would have thrown up all of it and ultimately wasted all of it. so i ended up taking half of nan's food...which was a whole lot better.
i guess the beach will have to wait. maybe saturday we will go.
so nan's planning a party at our house. actually, it's going to be more like a dinner and a movie kind of thing but if my cousins show up, they might just turn it into a party. we get really loud when we are all together. we might just have to lock my parents in their room for thursday night. nan is already planning the menu. she wants pizza and chocolate cake. should have been obvious! we might just wash it down with diet coke too=0) we will rent a DVD or something and go from there. usually will turn out to be a karoke night or something close to it. if we are going to go ahead with this, tomorrow night, i will be shopping for the goodies....she usually sends me out on the errands.
and yeah, spring break isn't spring break without the beach!!!!!
Oh...there's more about today too. earlier in the day, i worked with my friend again. her baby was running a high fever so she had to leave a little bit early. hope the baby is okay now. she was telling me that her baby inherited a big head from her husband. we joked a lot today. we had a good time before the boss showed up...and when he did, all we wanted to do was leave. i finished up the work for her so that she could go. wasnt much to do anyway...and as long as there is no interaction with the boss, i am okay. i had eaten about twenty minutes before he showed up and i was sooooo happy. i enjoy food a lot because when i eat, i usually eat with someone around and i wait until i am hungry so yeah, i remember the feeling i had when i was done eating.... then i saw him and i felt as if the food had just become so heavy. at least i am grateful it wasnt his brother....then it would have come up!
so on the note of a big head.....this is a typical conversation coming home from the movies....
four of us are in the car....Ami, Vinod, Nan and me.
Ami: "look, a haircut is only $7 here." (referring to a sign he had seen).
Vinod: " tomorrow i go go an' get ah haircut 'den."
Ami: "but when you go in, is really $9 that you pay."
Vinod: "boy, i can get dat for $7 if my Trini pardner dey."
Ami: "nah, you still have to leave d' people ah tip."
Vinod: "well then, i go pay $5 for d' haircut and gi' 'dem $2 for d' tip."
Ami: "then they go only cut half of yuh hair and leave d' ress."
Nan: "Vinod, with d' size of your head you should just pay them the $9!"
and then the laughter......
