Early morning at the store

When you work in the early morning, you get used to seeing people who are morning people and then you see the people who act as if waking up is a chore and they act as if the world wronged them for making them wake up. I don't understand these people. They come in the store and they give you the impression that they are angry with you and they are always in a hurry. They can barely say "good morning" and smiling is something foreign for them.
I guess if you are not a morning person, then I would be the last person you would like to see in the morning=0) From the minute my customers come in, I start talking. Most of them stay longer to talk now and the conversations range from family to politics, religion, school, their work, my work, weather, traveling, cars, house repairs, music, and basically anything else. See, my customers are regular customers. they come in the store for the same things every morning and I've memorized most of their products.
Then this morning, there was this lady who came in for a bag of chips. Now the price is 99 cents and I charged here 1.00. She gave me a whole big lecture about charging 99 cents and a 1 penny tax when there should be no tax on food. When she was done I asked her if she would like the penny. She said no and left. and i was wondering what all the fuss was about...........
Now really, my regular customers are different. See, when they are short of money, we let them have the product still. Then there are the really crazy ones. The ones who fight you for discounts on things like coffee and donuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Usually they are the old people. They think that the prices they paid in the 1950s apply to today's costs. Like a few days ago, there was this old lady. she came in for cappuccino and ended up getting chocolate because we had no cappuccino. the hot chocolate and the cappuccino cost us the same money so we sell them for the same price and the lady told me, "you're not going to charge me more than a dollar for this, are you?" Didn't feel like explaining to her the cost of things so I let her have it for a dollar. The next day, she came and she also paid a dollar.
Yesterday, for the first time in my life, i rode a bike. exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a very big accomplishment for me because i always thought i lacked balance. Ami took me out on the sidewalk and I went riding. It was not for any long distance but I rode without help. In the last attempt, i saw that I was about to crash into my dad's flower shrub (he uses it at the altar) by the picket fence so I braked while trying to get off the bike all at the same time. Needless to say, i fell.....on the bike too=0) I knew even before I saw my leg that the bruise was there. It's a big one....not as big as the time when i fell on the road while holding my coffee (furgie still laughs at this one....not one drop of the coffee spilled out!)...but neverthelss, it is big. About the size of a golf ball, swollen and purple (the one i got from the coffee incident was like a tennis ball)..... I am guessing that there will be a few more of those and some scrapes before I am good at it but I am all game. I will learn. Just like i learnt to roller skate. that was more of a disaster i think. In that one, i fell on the skates....really hard and for a few months, it hurt to sit down....must have injured my tailbone=0) Didn't stop me though, I went back and learnt.
through all this i've learnt one thing. it's hard when you are old and trying to learn things like these. See, when you're young, you are closer to the ground and the fall isn't as hard. when you're older, you kinda tend to hit the ground a little bit harder than usual.
There is an old man who comes into the store. When I say old, i mean old.....like mid 70s old. he can be my grandfather! he talks to me as if there is some chance of me going with him for a fling....where is my exasperated smiley???? I try to be nice to him but he kinda freaks me out sometimes. This guy says some eye-popping sh*t! Now, everytime i see him, I try to change the topic before he starts in his little "suggestive" talk. Usually, I talk until he gets bored then says he has to go. Then i do my little victory dance. Don't want to really fight with him or anyone because usually, i work alone. Not a very wise thing to do....fighting with people when you are alone most of the time.
