I watched a really good episode of "The Colbert Report" today. I guess it may have been taped in mid-august but that was when i was on vacation. Jon Stewart appeared on the show and made an "apology" to Geraldo Rivera. It was hilarious! Even got my dad and brother to watch the rerun. Nan and I laughed so much! Now that is humor!
I fell asleep for about an hour in the evening....as usual, Ami called and woke me up. Gotta stop sleeping with my phone! apparently he had gotten off early from work. My mom told me that my dad had found a gas station with no lines and he had filled gas there. I was unconcerned yet when Ami came, we went to fill the propane tanks and the gasoline containers for the generator. I knew it was not going to be anything but we prepared. So there, i joined the frenzy for a little. We also found a gas station that was empty and yet with gas.
The good thing about all this drama was that my mom went crazy in the kitchen. She baked all these goodies for us and when my dad came home, it was christmas for him. There is a little Trinidadian "cake" that we make with cassava/yucca, pumpkin, cinnamon, brown sugar, coconut, and sweet potatoes. We call it "pone" and yes, it is awesome. This is the only way i will eat cassava and sweet potatoes. nan made a spice cake too that was really good. had some of it with coffee .... i dipped it in the coffee to soften it=0) nah, actually it was pretty soft and airy for an eggless recipe.
It's almost 3am and Ernesto is definitely not happening. Yes, once again, the media blew it out of proportion. It was not even a tropical storm really. more like a little depression out in the ocean coming with some rain. Every now and again, we get a gust of wind and some rain for a minute or two and then it goes away. maybe i should go sleep now. if nothing, it makes for good sleeping weather=0)
I am thankful that nothing happened though. Very thankful. the 29th made it the one year anniversary of Katrina and people are still trying to pick up the shattered pieces of their lives in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Hi Vamni,
Your blog is cool, I like it. I agree the storm forecast was blown out of proportion. However, Thank God we did not see any terrible effects; especially cause we just got our patio screening re-done ;0) It was nice to be off of work for a few hours extra right in the middle of the week. It makes the week feel shorter and seems like the weekend came by too quickly...no complains there. I did stop by the beach for a quick glance at the ocean while going to work mid-day on Wednesday, it was so choppy, the waves were rolling at record speeds along the shore and the surfers with their surf boards were enjoying the momments. It was cool. Very well, keep in touch and I will also try to surf by your blog often. Take Care, Sadfeen.
