"Small Country; Big Passion"

The title is the slogan my little Trinidad is using for the World Cup 2006. It is my favorite sport, even more than cricket is. We are the smallest country ever to qualify for la Copa Mundial and it's funny because we are a twin island republic. Not even Tobago could make us big! I guess in Trinidad, the first game is being highly anticipated. It will be on Saturday sometime. I haven't even looked at the timetable yet. I bought the South Florida Sun-Sentinel today. It carried the story as it's cover story. Not even the date today was bigger than our little country who stole the spotlight in the great US. Two months ago, we made the headlines for the oil boom that we are experiencing now. I guess maybe our community is getting more vocal in South Florida. Many Trinbagonians have made South Florida their home and because of that and the weather we do not really miss Trinidad as much as the Trinis in Canada and New York. So the Soca Warriors are playing on Saturday. I will be watching the game. Vive le futbol!
