Latest in WTF news!

I saw this on the news today and had to make sure i saw it in the tv news too to be sure i was right. This is unbelievable!!! i've attached the link to the AOL site where i saw the article.
this guy dug a 60 foot deep hole in his yard looking for gold! 60 feet! and he hired people to help him too! and not just one guy but two guys...then the firefighters come and tell him that he needs to stop because he can get killed.....by the way, where is the watertable? How come he didn't strike water? Gotta make a note to self to find out how deep does one have to dig before reaching the watertable in California. got the pictures off AOL's website as well.
In FL, in some areas, one only needs to dig 6 feet before striking water. I found that out when Ami was trying to create a well in his backyard. Sometimes, Ami's ideas remind me of Jose Arcadia Buendia from 100 Years of Solitude. Well, Ami is not as extreme but this guy puts the cherry on the cake! we will not even bother to say he puts the cream on. he did better than that! he even looks like what i pictured Jose Arcadia Buendia to be right before it was established that he was obviously more than a little crazy...he heh. Excellent book, by the way. Real excellent book. Always will remember Ursula Buendia saying, "your children will be born with the tails of pigs...."
