TnT vs. Paraguay...before the match

I wore a T-shirt that says Trinidad and Tobago today. Tobago gets left out all the time because almost everyone is from Trinidad, including me. Doesn't stop me from being a Tobagonian though...Just one of the perks of being from a twin island republic. You are born a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago. My team plays at 3pm and I will be home for the match if all goes well. This is our last chance but for me, it's another chance for my team to show that we are good players. Even if we do not win or advance, I am proud of them. I guess all Trinis are proud of the team.
I was telling this customer that our goalkeeper, Hislop, said that he is just happy to be there. The guy told me that it wasn't a good attitude. I guess he doesn't know islanders. Maybe, for him, everything is about winning but for us, it's all about the ride. By the way, this is coming from a guy who does not buy one lottery ticket but $110 in lottery, and $10 extra in case if the 110 don't win!!! I thought all you needed to win was just one! He comes at 6:30 am, even before the sun rises properly to play lottery. What a life!
See, my team/we fulfilled our goal a long time ago when we qualified!!!! Come on, we are an island of 1.3 million people that is probably in it's widest part just under 45 miles wide and less than 100 miles long and shaped like a worker's boot. We are proud of TnT. Our Tobago is even smaller. We are merely a dot on the globe but now everyone knows who we are. Everytime we are introduced on the TV, the announcer says, "Trinidad and Tobago, twin islands off the coast of Venezuela. I've heard our anthem twice so far and sung along and even stood at attention when it played. Did the same for the US although i only know a few words of the US anthem. At least i know the pledge=0)
So for me, today when i watch the game, i will be screaming at the TV....I will be jumping up and down, I will be nervous everytime the other team comes close to our goal and I will be cheering our Soca Warriors on. I know our player's names and their positions on the field. For me, they are recognizable. In my mind, we've already won. We are just playing now.
